Purpose

The goal of 440 - Developing Clinical Decision Making Questions for Next Gen NCLEX® is to prepare nurse educators to develop test content to assess clinical decision making skills.

Learning Outcomes

The objectives of the course are as follows. Upon course completion, participants will be able to:

  • Develop clinical decision making items using traditional item types.
  • Describe the item types used by NCSBN on the next generation NCLEX®.
  • Identify alternative item types to NCSBN's next generation NCELX® which may successfully assess clinical decision making.
  • Develop clinical decision making items using alternative item types.
  • Describe the scoring rubrics used by NCSBN on the nest generation NCLEX®.
  • Develop scoring rubrics for alternative item types.
